    Taper/countersink drill bits

Anybody use the tapered bits with the built-in countersinks and if so, how do you like them, and where do I find a reasonable set?

I've started watching Nahum lately and they look like a cool way to join plywood and other engineered wood products quickly.

I picked up a set from HF a couple years ago. I like them a lot for very small screws, but I'm unimpressed with them for the #6 & #8 screws that I normally use. They seem to drill much slower than my pilot point bits. That said, I don't often use brass screws, which is what they really seem designed for.

The built-in countersinks are very nice though. A few of them have been permanently relocated to some pilot point bits.

I use the hitachi ones all the time. If you get one make sure you buy a spare set of the drill bits as they have a habit of snapping at the most inopportune moments.

I started out with a cheapie set and replaced it with a set of Fuller's. Difference of night and day in performance. Won't swear to it, but I think I saw Fuller's in the Penn State catalog.
