I have my dads PC 691 router and I'm planning on mounting it on my 3100 router bed. According to the specs it is a 12,000 rpm router. I'm planning on trying to make some raised panels for my sons aquarium stand and am wondering if this router will work adquately (sp). I understand these need the slower speed anyway. For general purpose use will it perform ok with the slower speed than a normal 20,000 rpm router?
PC 691 router good for router table?

all the references I saw on the web say it is a 27,500 RPM router.I have my dads PC 691 router and I'm planning on mounting it on my 3100 router bed. According to the specs it is a 12,000 rpm router. Fixed speed, D-handle.
Probably won't work too well for raising panels.
Besides the BT3100 table opneing is probably too small for a raised panel bit diameter.

Thanks for the info LCHEIN. I must have misread something to come up with 12,000. I can always make the panels on the table saw, gives me an excuse to make another jig.

As usual Loring is right
The 691 is a fixed speed 27K unit (have 2 of them)
The 695 is the same unit only variable speed
Either will do fine in a table (or the BT) I like mine allot but if you are turning a 3" bit 25K is a ton of speed.
Look at the 695 instead

As others have already said, too fast for horizontal raised panel bits and also vertical raised panel bits. Recommended speed for the vertical bit is 18,000 RPM. Even at that speed its a little scary. Lot of metal going really fast.

raised panels on bt3100 .... possible
actually, when i made my raised panel for the cabinet doors, i made them on my bt3100. the whole is small. here is what i did:
i over layer the top with a 1/4" plywood with a hole that was just big enough for the bit to fit into it. the hole was made close to the edge of the plywood so that i could still use the table saw fence. i mounted my ryobi router from the bottom. then install the bit from the top and my doors came out perfect. no problems at all.
