Confused: New blade for my CMS

Before I go out and buy a blade for my cheap (but very usable) Ryobi 10" CMS I thought I might check here first and I'm a bit confused. I've read over and over that I would want a negative hook angle blade for my CMS, which really only leaves the LU91R010 (-5 degree hook angle), but Freud's blade selector recommends either a LU85R010 (+10 degree hook) or a LU88R010 (+15 deg hook). I think I've also read that others have used the LU85R010 with good results on their CMS.

This confuses me greatly, isn't it less than ideal and possibly dangerous as the blades will be lifting the stock due to high positive hook angle?

I don't think a negative hook angle is totally required, I've aways heard it as a low or negative hook angle was desirable. Like between -5 and +5°.
I think 10 to 15° is starting to get on the high side.
You should really have the stock secured so a slight lift is not horrible. and depending upon the width of the stock some teeth towards the front will be pushing it down.
Does Freud have any recommendation as to which blade is good for miter saws in their promotoinal material?

The LU91 or LU85 should be fine....very popular blades in a CMS. The LU88 is a great blade in a TS but has a pretty steep hook angle for a CMS.

I've actually got an extra brand new LU85 in my garage. I've got $40 into it, and would take $40 for it....PM me if think you might be interested.

For me - negative hook = cutting Aluminum.

Just bought one for my CMS (dedicated for Al cutting). What a difference the negative hook made
        Downunder ... 1" = 25.4mm

          LCHIEN,

Nothing that I know of in promotional material, I just used their blade selector to see what they said and put in 10" CMS, 1-1/4 and under hardwoods/softwoods and it came out LU85 and if 1-1/4+ hardwoods/softwoods it came back LU88, which confused me after hearing I wanted something like the LU91 with a negative hook angle.

Freud's upper end blades and bits are really good, but their website needs some work IMO....especially the blade selection feature. It's not fitting on an industry leader.

Thanks to Dustmight, I'm no longer worrying about which blade to buy. LU85 inbound!
