It's funny how the reviews on Amazon.com go from great to crap over the 4 years of user reviews. 5 stars in '01 to 2 stars in '05.

Might want to search the internet for lots of reviews.

it's currently sold as the TP400LS (with leg stand), the 22-560 was the top of the line delta portable planer until the 22-580 (two-speed) came out and the 22-560 was relegated to the "shopmaster" lineup.

I think its a pretty good planer - has cutterhead lock to reduce snipe.
The main drawback to a used unit would be if the blades were shot - dull or nicked - and needed replacement.

I paid about $300 for mine and it had no stand. Check the current pricing of the TP400LS - looks like around $300 or so. So $175 is an OK price, I guess, if its in good condition. If it includes the dust collection hood, that's good. It's almost a needed item in my opinion and it goes for $25 or something like that.

The TP305 has no stand and no cutterhead lock. It was originally the 22-540. Considerably more snipe possibilities.

Lance, the 560 was my first planer and it did really good job for me. I jumped on the 22-580 deal when Lowes blew them out, but there were some things I liked better on the 560...like the dust chute and the cord storage.

IMO $175 a tad on the high side, I'd see if they'd take $150 which is a fair price. That said, if it's really in sweet shape and/or there are an extra set of blades, etc., it's worth $175 too. I think I advertised mine for $140 and got 17 calls!
