What does an AC/DC cast base mean?

There are several different Milwaukee chop saws on amazon and one particular model says it has an AC/DC cast base. This is the same one that HD carries. What does it mean and what are the benefits if anything?

A link to the Milwaukee site:

The "AC/DC" means it will run on either Alternating or Direct Current as long as the supply voltage and current capacity is correct. The motor is probably a "Universal" motor that has brushes, instead of being an induction motor.

The "Cast Base" part indicates that the base of the unit is cast material, in this case, cast iron.

Commas are wonderful inventions. misplaced ones can lead to trouble.

A panda bear walks in to a convenience store. Attendant asks what he needs. The panda points to the sandwiches, the man gives the bear the sandwich which the bear consumes. Then the bear pulls out a pistol and fires, fatally wounding the attendant and walks out the door. As the bear exits, the man asks with his dying breath, "Why?" The bear shrugs and tosses down a textbook open to the page on panda bears. It says: Panda Bear - endangered species. Native to China. Eats shoots, and leaves.

I have to confess this is from Lynne Truss' best seller book, which I read, but the best thing about it was the opening story, so if you read my post you don't need to buy this book.
