Buying Belt/Disc Sander and VS Scroll Saw

My friend is wanting to get rid of his used Craftsman Belt / Disc Sander 21536 and his VS Ryobi Scroll Saw SC162. They are both in good condition. He is asking $100 total for both.

Is this a good deal?

I am really wondering if I need these right now.

I would think so....you'd be hard pressed to buy either item for 100 new

That sounds reasonable for both...I would not go higher than that. Scrollsaw
is one machine nice to have but will probably just sit around and collect
dust where the sander combo will get used almost on every project and make some dust. eezlock

Yeah, a scroll saw is not good for much, right up until it's the only thing for the job!

Well, I tested them both out last night. They both seem like good machines, but the sander has a slight problem. The belt will move to one side and I have to fiddle with the adjustment knob to get it going straigh, but it seems ultra sensitive.

Anybody know if that is an easy fix, or is it just inherent of belt/disc sanders?

No experience with the Craftsman benchtop sander you're looking at, but FWIW ... the tracking control on my Ridgid oscillating spindle/belt sander is hair-trigger sensitive. The one on my Ryobi handheld belt sander, not so much.

i had a Craftsman 6" disk, 4" belt sander benchtop unit and
when it got older, I had the same problem with tracking - the thing would want to go one way when cold then warm up and you 'd have to adjust it back the other way. you could spend the first 3-4 minutes after turning it on adjusting the belt before it settled down. It ate up a few belts that way and I got so tired of adjusting it all the time I got a Ryobi BD4600 which has worked fine and does not need tweaking all the time for tracking. Got rid of the craftsman. But they had several models made by different folks over the years and its hard pressed to tell you its the same one.
