I use black vinyl carpet runner cut to size for my tool boxes. I use a large section to protect my work table. It has lasted 20 years so far. Cleans easy remove, spray with appropreate cleaner wipe down and reinstall.

Thanks for the replies, everyone.
I had to go to Wal-Mart last night, and bought some of what they had in the kitchen aisle ... 20" wide x 72" long roll, a little under four bucks. Possibly could've found something cheaper elsewhere but I was already in the store, the bird was in hand, etc.
FWIW, this stuff is considerably thinner than the similar-looking router pad I bought at Woodcraft. About 1/3 the thickness, I'd say. Plenty adequate for a drawer liner, though.
Oh and BTW there were indeed several color choices but I went with basic black as I figured that would look best with my pearls ... er, I mean tools.

Carpet padding is a little thick but works very well. It is not slip and does not roll around like some of the other stuff does. You can double it and make cut-outs for specific tools and it looks really good.It can be spray painted to any color you want as well.spellling champion Lexington region 1982Comment
