Non-Slip Drawer Liner: Best Deal? Alternatives?

Over the weekend I finally satisfied a long-held wish and bought myself a rolling tool storage combo.

Now I need some of that non-slip, waffled foam, drawer liner/pad stuff. Checking prices online, it looks to me like Lowe's has the best deal ... about 16 bucks for a 22.5" x 118" roll. HF has some that's regularly $6.99, on sale for $3.99, but the sheet size is only 18" x 72" and the nearest HF store is 70 miles away.

Does anyone know of a cheaper source for this stuff?

Or, does anyone know of a cheaper alternative material that could be used? (I thought about carpet pad, but it'd be too thick, I think.)

I assume you are talking about the plastic like material that looks like funnel cakes poured in sheets?

If yes then go to Wally World and look in the kitchen section. My wife gets it for the kitchen cabinets all the time it comes in 12 and 24" rolls and is DIRT cheap

PLUS you can get it in any color you want ) **** lay those Snap Ons on the light pink and prove to the world that real men CAN use pink

Just to let you know there's more to worry about than price (and, yes, you're welcome ) -- we have some at work that I believe came with the Craftsman rolling toolbox. It stuck to several items -- can't really remember what, off hand. I assume the Craftsman stuff isn't necessarily the cheapest stuff out there, either.

We've got some no-slip pad for area rugs (~1/8" thick?) that I think would be pretty grippy. But, I wonder if a fine layer of saw dust would take care of that....

      Regards,
      Tom

That's an apt description, yes. Regardless of source or brand, every example I've seen looks exactly like this. (Click "Enhanced Image" for a much better look.) I'll check the stuff at Wally World; thanks!

Tom: Appreciate the tip. Whatever I get, I'll keep my eye on things and will watch for that. I have a piece of the above that I use as a router pad, and it DOES have a fairly tacky surface feel.

And oh yeah ... SnapOns. Boy, don't I wish! 'Fraid I have to be content with my semi-motley assortment of tools by Craftsman, SK, Thorsen -- and of course all the items I inherited from my Uncle Stanley.

          hi,

costco almost always has them. they are 2ft x 20ft and for $15 if i am not wrong. this is the thicker material, like 1/8" thick as opposed to the real thin stuff and it works really well. i use it in my trunk, keeps everything in its place, even around the curves.

dont know your locations, otherwise could have done a quick check to see if there is a costco in your area.

          regards,

          omar

Off-topic, Larry, but your mention of SnapOn made me chuckle.

I recently helped a friend get a job at the company I'm currently consulting at ("help" meaning he didn't have to wade through the muddy waters of corporate recruiting; his resume really did all the work).

We met at my last assignment. On his last day there, he gave me Andy Rae's hardcover book on furniture construction, which I thought was very nice. He said it was for all the "help and kindness" I had given him.

Well, he currently works for SnapOn...

              Check Walmart. Approx $9.00 for a 16.5 x 112" roll.

Something that may be cheaper is the non-skid pads for area rugs. I have one in the shop for doing sanding/routing operations on my bench. It works great for that.

                  Larry,

I bought a bunch at the 99 cent store. I don't know if they have them in your area. They always seem to have 12' rolls for , you guessed it, 99 cents.

I just bought some at the Christmas Tree Shop the other day....very inexpensive.

WalMart and IKEA have great deals too.

I picked up some rolls sold as exercise mats at Big Lots. About $15 to do my entire tool box.

I went to Lowes in the kitchen dept. as well. Same stuff as they had in tool dept. I don't remember the price but it was cheaper. Amazing ..... same store, just go to a different aisle.
