    TS Blade/router bit height guage

    Good day

After we finished with the "Will takeoff or not" (hopefully), lets go back to woodworking.

Only one note: when you check the blade height, turn the blade backward to check the highest point of the blade.

    Regards

          A mathematical note:

To get the most accurate possible reading, you should rotate the blade so that a tooth is at the very top.

BUT, if you don't , it won't be too bad. I calcuate that if you have a 36-tooth blade with a tooth every 10 degrees, then you will never be more than 5 degrees from the top. With a 10" blade the maximum error you get with the tooth 5 degrees off top, is only .019" (~1/64"). For most work, this is negligible and saves you some time and effort.

just make sure you rest the measuring device on the highest tooth. For me, this is easy on the BT3x saws, the highest point will be right next to the wrench slot in the table top next to the Throat plate. The width of that slot is approx the tooth spacing.

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

            You are correct Loring
I forgot to mention that the dowel is free to move up and down and when I rotate the blade backward I can see (I have the mag. glass ) the measuring plate going slightly up and down so I can adjust the blade more accurately.
