Tiny little gloat

I lied - HUGE GLOAT - my demonstration kit arrived today - Christmas came early.

As well as the Workcenter 2000 and the latest Superjaws, there's the router table with separate stand, the sliding extension kit (for cutting full sheets), the 235mm (2000W) circular saw, the plunge drill, dust extraction, finger jointer, biscuit jointer, multi-stand, manuals, video, DVD and even three company shirts!

Holy smokes! You definately got to get photos of that stuff all set up. I know Triton has been around your parts a little longer than it has here. So is this some kind of system like Festool or something?

The basic part is the Workcenter 2000. This allows you to use a circular saw (preferably a real powerful one, like the Triton 235mm) in a cradle, either as a table saw, or as a cross-cut saw. The top is interchangable with a router table top (although I've got the additional separate stand - easier for demos) - and has other accessories, such as the biscuit and finger jointer kits.

The Superjaws are something else again. Have a look on Triton's Australian site, that will give you a better idea. HTH

How did you become a demo guy?

You may know that I've got the large (3.25HP) Triton router and the new 2.25HP model too - I'm always banging on about them! I did a review on my site soon after buying the big one, then a comparative review once I'd got the new one.

The guy I bought the second machine from was impressed with the reviews and asked permission to show them to customers - I agreed.

Recently, Triton's European Manager had these reviews pointed out to him by the dealer and I was contacted. A meeting took place and I was asked if I would demonstrate their products.

That's all there was to it! I know that there are at least two other Triton owners within the forum, who will understand my delight in being asked to talk to others about some really great products.

The only problem you'd have is the Router would probably use a different power curve, like 220 Volts @ 50 cycles. Not sure of the spec, just know it's different from the one here in North America.

I know (and 220V @50hz does sound correct), and having it shipped from the UK would not be cheap. That and like Ray would just give me his old one. In fact his post doesn't even say anything about any NEW routers.

Ray: Did you get routers also, or are you suppose to use yours? You mention router table, is that with / without router? How much of this did you know you were going to get? Hope your not paying to have it shipped all over the place.

I'll use my routers to start with - I've no problem with that, as there'll be very little "live" routing to do, just have them there to point out the unique features.

The router table is designed as another (accessory / replacement) top for the Workcenter, but I've also got the optional stand which turns it into a standalone router table - much easier for demos than continually changing tops.

The target market of this system is the keen woodworker with little space. This stuff folds away and hangs on the wall, yet is very well made - robust and with powder-coated finishes.

I knew that I was going to get all of it, apart from the metal cutoff saw (nice piece of kit, though!). I suggested the large extension kit (sliding table for cutting full sheets), otherwise it just turned up as promised.

It will all fit in my van. I'll be paid per mile (both ways) for travelling to demos, hotel accommodation, meals and all other relevant expenses, plus per hour for doing the demonstrations.

Not working 9-5 everyday, getting paid for something you enjoy doing. Get new toys every now and then, at least the startup set is great. The money he makes can be used to buy more new toys!!! Sounds more like a dream than work. Hope nobody pinches you and wakes you up.

Hahaha! You got that right. But even as it is BEFORE shifting the decimal point for the Triton, It is pretty far over, at least here in Japan
