All I can say is WOW!

Ok I got to know, has anyone else here installed a Herc-U-Lift on a Bandsaw by themselves? I just did and I think I hurt my brain for sure! I swear the instructions were written by Loring and after 3 hours and many bad words being said it is finally installed and functional. This one was not at all like the one that came on the Tablesaw as it is meant to fit many different tools thus it has a lot of extra parts and such. It has a picture of what the dimensions should be for the Bandsaw but the assembly instructions are in the front of the manual so back and forth you go.

I guess I should not gripe for $15 but man what a pain!

I'm not sure but I don't think that was a compliment?

Painful it was, but worth the effort wouldn't you say? The herculift is the sweetest lift setup I've seen and used so far.

Sure it was Loring! That was my way of saying the documentation was written by an engineer

Also I was poking a little fun at you.

Did you get that to fit under a semi-enclosed base? I have an HF and a extra hecrulift but did think I could use it for that. Got any picture to back that claim up?

I've installed 4 of these on various tools/stands now including a BT3, Ridgid planer and 2 other generic stands. My first one was purchased "used" from someone who couldn't figure out how to assemble it, the next two when they were on clearance for $30, and now 1 more on clearance for $14 and change. While none of these are on a bandsaw, 2 of them were setup using the bandsaw brackets and sizing instructions as that happened to match most closely the size of the stand I was mounting.

I would guess the first one was a bit over an hour as I needed to figure out what they really meant and flip back and forth a few times along with some minor rework ("Oh, that's that they meant about the larger hole being 'down' "). The subseqent ones were maybe 15-20 minutes each including the time to jigger the sizes since my stands didn't quite match the size/leg slant for the examples listed in the book.

I did need to re-drill 2 of the pieces out of the 4 lifts as they had been drilled 90 degrees off from one end to the other, this obviously would have caused much more consternation for me if it had happened on the first unit before I knew how it was supposed to look.

A tip for folks that bought two, take out both manuals so you can reference the different sections at the same time. Smarter folks than I, may have simply xeroxed the illustration, but that didn't occur to me at the time.

            Kristofor.

Bill, to get it to work on the bandsaw you have to remove one of the side supports. Not a big deal and it is still very stable. For the blowout deal of $14 it is hard to beat for sure.

I think I am one of the few whose distaste for the herc-u-lift was so large that mine went back to HD. If they were giving them away I'd pass.
