    Drill press question

I have an old Atlas drill press. Down the street from my brothers, someone has a Delta press of the same era, minus the table and chuck, for less then I can get the pipe for to make mine a floor model. (mine benchtop 36", his floor model) Am I right in assuming that these would probably have been a standard pipe size?

    TIA
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

Don't know: My guess is they're not.

But That's what calipers are for...

Be careful if you want to take the head assembly off, they can weigh over 100 lbs.

I'm sure you know all about that assuming stuff but if the other DP is just down the street why not just go measure it. Or am I missing something. Wouldn't be the first time Pat

Back from work. Mine's an Atlas, his is a Rockwell (Delta), but the down the street part, is from my brothers (1:30 drive from me), and my brother knows almost nothing about tools (so no help there). I was hoping to hear there would be two or three common sizes, so I don't make the trip for nothing (called the guy, it's at his business, so I am going Tues afternoon), now I need to measure mine.

Don't need to know much about tools to wrap a non-stretchy string around the pipe, mark where the string's end meets the string itself upon completing one complete trip around the pipe, and measure that circumference on a ruler. Your string length would have to match his.

'course, some folks have trouble just reading a ruler!
