Ryobi RA2500 10" Radial Arm Saw

Does anyone know anything about this saw. I found one on craigslist for $50 and tried to find some info on it but there doesn't seem to be too much info out there. I'd like to find out a bit of history and info such as

    When they stopped making it
    what the original price was
if it has a universal or induction motor
    if it's any good
where it is made (some info I found shows that it's made in japan?)
some of the things I sould be looking for before buying it

It's a toss up between this and a nearly new craftsman 10" RAS that's listed on recycler.com for $100.00

    Thanks!

    Ryobi RAS

I own one of these saws.Bought it new about 15 years ago for about $250. It is an 8-1/4 inch saw and is powered by an induction motor which is VERY loud. I have use this saw a lot,and it has been very accurate and trouble free. Shortly after I bought mine, Ryobi issued a safety recall and gave me a brand new replacement saw at no cost to me(they even paid freight both ways!).One of the interesting features of this saw's motor is the arbor is double-endedne end
holds the saw blade, the other contains a router collet and chuck and is designed for over-arm routing.

you mean RA200 or is it a different model? All I ever heard of was the RA200.

The RA200 seems to be more common but the model is RA2500.

Should of picked it up when I had a chance. I found one listed on craigslist for $50.
