I bought a 3/4" Screw Box and Tap off eBay - What a mistake -- There was a Marples one on up for auction at the same time -- I should have stayed in on the Marples.
The Screw Box I ended up with is a total piece of crap. The cutter isn't angled but is a right angles to the tanget if that makes sense...The cutter is parallel to the case. I freezeframed the woodwright shop episode where Roy builds the treading machine and his Screw Box cutter sits at about 15 degrees to tangent (or case). The seems give the heel of the cutter some relief space after it makes the cut.
My Screw Box crushes the thread that has just been cut.. Backing the screw box off the just cut threads is out of the question.
