    small HF dust collector

I think it may be time to get a dust collector but I don't have much room. I was looking at the HF website and saw a smaller DC unit that sells for $109.00 (the green one). Anyone have any experience with this unit? I think its size would allow me to put it uner my outfeed tabe. This would be perfect for my shop size. Or would I be better off just using a shop vac? Thanks!

The one they have on display at my local HF looks like a piece of junk to me. The hose that runs from the tool to the blower unit is paper thin and the overall construction seems very flimsly.

I don't know if you have access to anyone that sells the ProTec line but they have a similiar unit that is, outwardly anyways, a much better constructed unit. The ProTec DC also sells for about the same money as the HF DC, $99 around here.

If you have a choice: 1 HP DC for $110 or a 2 HP DC for $159
most people will buy the 2 HP, that's why you seldom see the 1 HP mentioned here.

I used the 1 hp portable in my shop for a while with a .3 micron bag from Grizzly. It worked well if you don't mind rolling it from tool to tool. It now collects dust without even being turned on. I upgraded to a 2hp HF DC w/ Wynn conversion and plumbed my shop.

Is a 1 HP Delta not strong enough to run about 20 ft of 4" PVC plus the drop to tools?

If your space problem isn't a height problem, the 2HP Harbor Freight DC would be a better deal than the 1HP Harbor Freight DC's. When you include the size of the inflated bag on the 1HP thier footprints are pretty close. You might find this interesting, http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthr...apsed&sb=5&o=7

Get a 1 micron or smaller bag, or you'll run yourself out of your own shop, especially when sanding.

I don't know how good it is but is on sale at the retail stores for $89 and you can use the 20% off to make it a still better deal.

I think the one above may be the way to go. I think it is usually almost as much as the 2hp model.
