WoodWorkers Vises

There's a Jet 7" on sale at Amazon for $49.94 and HF has a 10" for $20 and a 6" for $13.

Does anyone have any experience with the HF vises? Are they any good, or should I stick with a "name" brand?

I think the HF vises don't have a (bench/vise)dog on the movable face of the vise, and they may not be the quick release types - if that's important to you...

venkat is right, the $20 HF vise is featureless, the
7" vise probably has those features but is small.
if you will have one vise it should have 9-10" capacity for items + wood lined jaws and quick release and pop-up dogs, probably run you $60-80.

I would not waste my money on a small vise. You need to be able to crank down on it whatever it is. Quick release is very nice but you can live without it. Grizzly did have a nice vise for about $30. You might want to look at it.

What Loring and Mess said. I have a Jorgenson 7" and the pop-up dog gets used a lot. Thought about the 9" but a bit pricey. The smaller 7" has done everything I've needed so far. I wouldn't go any smaller than that though.
