    Mobilize a DP?

Has anybody mobilized their floor-standing DP? I'd like some ideas. Mine is always in the way, and now I must relocate it to make room for my new DC. I don't think any Herc-u-Lifts will work. Anybody know of something similar that would?

I use an HTC2000 base for my DP (and my bandsaw, and my jointer).

I just noticed that this picture shows different levers than the other close up pictures at amazon -- the others are the old style. Strange.

      Tom

I saw a geat idea in a woodworking magazine. I have not had time to try it out yet but it looks good. The idea was to mount 4 pieces of UHMW on the 4 corners of the base. This could be done by attachine them to piece of 3/4 or 1" plywood and attaching that to the DP base. Supposedly the UHMW is slick enogh to slide fairly easily over concrete or tile but have enogh friction so the unit would not slide in normal use.

I have one of those under my DP, and one under my jointer. The one under the DP is newer, and come with both the orange plastic levers, and the older aluminum ones. I like the big plastic ones better.

Also, I meant to point out that I just saw there's an HTC3000 on the market. It must be 50% better , but it costs ~2x as much.

I think it has better leveler feet???? I didn't look too closely -- I was blinded by the $100 sticker.

I tried that and it works great for me because I only need to move the drill press a few feet at a time. It was quick and easy to make and low cost. By the way, my shop floor is concrete. This probably would not work on all floor surfaces.

Thanks for the info, guys. I just ordered an HTC2000 from the jungle, since the 10% off got the price under 50 bucks delivered. I want to keep the footprint as close as possible to the original, so we'll see how it works. If it's too wobbly on the DP, I'll put together something wider, and use the HTC2000 for something else.

                    Just4:

Here's a pic of the HTC2000 under my DP. When you arrange the HTC2000 for a small footprint, it tends to ride high on the end with the levelers. A thin piece of ply under the back end of my DP base brought it to level.
