Any comments on the Delta JT360 Jointer-planer

This thing has two rebates now and with the 10% discount coupons could be had for around $255 net cost. Price Discussed in Bargain Alerts a week or two ago.

Its the Floor-standing/open stand 6" 3/4 HP model with 46" tables, normally $349 at Lowes.
    Weighs 210 lbs.

Not the prettiest around, but how well does it work? Anyone have one?

I'd rate it a "Buy" at $255. It has a slightly smaller motor, open stand, and a less robust fence support mechansism than the $400 machines, but it's plenty capable.

I've got one. Pulled it out of the box, assembled and started planing. I guess I should actually tune the dang thing, but I've been very happy with it right out of the box. It's definately worth $255. Heck, I've seen the benchtops go for $200. I'd get it while the gettin's good.

        Enjoy the new toy!

guess it depends on what your using it for? A big 6-8 foot board might give it trouble. I have the Craftsman 6" floor model and its awsome for smaller pieces but with a long heavy piece of wood the fence isn't rock steady and even the tables seem to have some flex to them when you put a big board on em. I don't agree with the 2X the bed length for the piece of wood you can do. Id say1-1.5. That rule might be true on the huge 8+ inches mosnters. That big 16" Grizzly could probably handle a tree 10 times its length. It weighs almost a ton.

The ridgid has a 1 HP motor, the Craftsman claims a 1.5 HP motor but we all know how Sears rates HP about twice what everyone else does.

Hmm, the manual I saw showed an enclosed dust chute with 4" port.

Oh yeah, I see, the picture I saw did not have the included 4" dust port adapter installed. There is definately one.

I have the 37-190 which is the same just an older model number and find it works great. Your price is like $200 less than what I purchased mine for. A definate buy now!

The 10% discount will not work if you use the Amazon matching deal to get two rebates. Been tried without success on other items today. Look at other threads in the forum.
