    Skil circular saw

I was at my son’s house this weekend and was looking at an old Skil circular saw that my son got from his father-in-law. I had forgotten that Skil had made some nice tools at one time. This saw is all metal and I think the metal is nickel. Could that be right?

Nickel is used in plating and alloying. Its rare to find a piece that is primarily Nickel. Even nickel coins are primarily copper.

Stainless steels have a high nickel content, magnets are made with nickel alloys, I think Chromiums are alloyed with nickel for plating, NIckel is also plated alone. Nickel-cadmium (Nicad) rechargable batteries, Nickel-chromium heating elements.

Probably if anything, your saw is plated.

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

The current Skil circ saw with the laser is actualy very nice, and I've run it through some pretty harsh stuff (even used a fiber blade when cutting cement board). Not with the stock blade of course.
