    Cartridge / Canister Filter Material

I know Wynn has both poly and paper filters, but, wondering if anyone has info on other makes like: PSI, Grizzly, JET

I'm really interested in the JET due to the recent Amazon sale. I called their 800# and got their tech rep on the phone and first call was told the filter was paper, second call said it was poly, and third time paper.

    Thanks,

    Mike

That sale on the Jet cannister is over as they are out of stock and it can't be ordered. Unless you know of another sale . . . .

I am going to be posting some info next week once I get to try out some custom made 1 micron bags. You may want to wait on purchase to check this out.

Actually I snagged one for $55 (of coarse - on backorder) but was wondering if the Wynn poly cartridge is a better filter.

It's just sometimes I call Jet they say poly and sometimes paper (hey, just like in the grocery store). Their tech help # seems to go to experienced woodworkers which is great but I'm looking for the designers who can answer a material question.

Mike (I have had a Grizzly 0.3 micron bag for about a year and want a cartridge so it doesn't need to be cleaned so often)

The Wynn poly cartridge is more durable and rated at 1 micron. The paper cartridge is easier to tear and rated at 0.5 microns. After talking to Mr Wynn when I ordered mine, I got the poly. 2 reasons: I sometimes have teenagers around who aren't the most careful moving things in my small shop, and, according to Mr Wynn, most hobby woodworking rarely generates anything below 1 micron (possible exception - MDF).

The grizz catalog says theirs is spun polyester. For $165.
I don't think that $55 price for the Jet will ever reappear. Was a mistake.
