I was looking into buying a sander but unsure which would be the best fit. I was looking at the Belt/Disk sander, the Oscillating spindle sander, and the rigid Oscillating belt sander. Wasn’t sure which was the best way to go and best brands. I currently have the sanding disk adaptor that fits on the table saw, which works fairly well, but was looking to upgrade to a better solution.

I have 3 sanders. The older Ryobi OSS, a Delta 4"x36" belt/6" disk combo, and the Delta 1" belt/5" disk combo. All serve their purpose but, starting over again, I would go with the Rigid Oscillating Belt/Spindle sander and a stand alone disk sander.Don, aka Pappy,

I also use the Ridgid belt/spindle sander and like it a bunch. It has served me very well ofr a couple years now and has held up great.
I have a review of this machine at the link below with photos and more on the features.

I won't argue that the Ridgid osc belt sander is the most versatile.Originally posted by StytoonerThe Ridgid is absolutely the winner hands down without a doubt certainly for sure.
It'll do the jobs of a belt sander, disk sander and oscillating sander in one machine and take up less room.
For those building up a shop on a budget, $200 for sander may be a bit much. I'd say that a belt disk sander like the BD4600 or a host of similar machines selling for $70 (you have to watch out for sales) to 100 will be the most bang for the buck. Add a OSS later and you'll have near the same functionality in two tools costing about the same.

I vote for the Rigid oscillating belt.spindle sander. It should suit most of your needs and not take up much real estate in the shop.Monte (another darksider)

I've had a sander on my list for a while now, and this one had escaped my attention - which makes my think my local BORG doesn't carry it (or maybe they just don't have one on display). I've been very unimpressed with most of the disc/belt combos I've seen - the work tables are almost universally poorly made and I can't see how they'd hold up to much use.
I thank you all!
(LOML probably doesn't though
