    Type mismatch?

They are actually 92 1/4" long, they are studs..

    Here's how it goes. Bottom plate 1 1/2" + Stud 92 1/4" + (2) top Plates 3" = 96 3/4"

Now when you add 1/2" of drywall to the ceiling it leaves you a vertical wall height of 96 1/4" (1/4" fudge factor to install 8' panels to the walls.

Are you sure Norm would do it that way?

    Measure Twice
    Cut once...
    Then get more wood.....</center>

    Then get more lumber!

Back in the day, I worked in a lumber yard. We called the shorter ones precuts, and as already explained are for wall studs.

Yup. And there's also 92-5/8" as well. Beats me why the extra 3/8" though....

92-5/8" + 1-1/2" bottom plate + 3" top plates - 1/2" drywall ceiling - 5/8" particle bd floor underlayment = 8' walls measured inside right on the head.

That makes perfect sense - I'll be more careful in the future. I guess I'll be crosscutting my plywood shelves and having a 92 & someodd" long storage shelves. Thanks for the info!

              Actually 2x4 pre-cuts come in several sizes depending where your at. Here we have 92-5/8" (1Bottom, 2 top) for 8', 94-1/4" (1bottom, 1 top) 8' non-load bearing. 104-5/8 (1Bottom, 2 top) 9', 116-5/8 (1Bottom, 2 top) 10'.

              2x6 also comes in 92-5/8" & 104-5/8

Ive also seen 93" & 92" but not around here
Of course Lumber is expensive, what do you think, it grows on trees

                Type mismatch?

Was posting in another forum topic and tried to do this:

blah blah blah - yet - blah blah blah

and it through a "Type mismatch error" back at me.

                BobL.

EDIT: Hmmm, can't seem to recreate it here. Oh well.

Ok, that's strange, I just went back to look at the post I finally got it to accept to see if there was something I was missing that would have thrown the error and there were three posts. The two attempts that threw the error actually got posted, and then the one I edited.

I deleted the first two, left the last one.

                    Maybe just a fluke.
