Very interesting. It seems that once a thread gets rated once, a flag gets permanently set that is preventing anyone else from adding a rating.

I didn't try to rate this thread. Thread ratings on this forum are used about as much as reputation points. My experience has been the more juvenile the forum participants, the more they pay attention to the ratings.

Unfortunately it appears that not many people at all actually agree with it.

              Yo Alex,

I strongly suggest you attempt to get a life, you're starting to post like Cabinetman.

Youngster? That's not what my knees say. Keep in mind some of the drumming related site I've participated in, many of the members aren't even out of high school. There's a different level of maturity around places like that.

I think I would rate this thread 5 stars for being called young.

Nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you. You're better than that! -Rocky Balboa-

Interesting. I wouldn't consider myself juvenile, but I do notice the ratings -- kind of difficult to not notice them, actually, because they're right there next to the post subjects.

I'm inclined to believe it's more related to the forum culture and how comfortable/familiar its users are with this type of rating system.

Can you get those on Amazon.com yet? If I really must get one, I don't want to have to leave the house to do it.

The culture is what I was getting at. The younger the age of the participants, the less mature the forum culture seems to be. This forum is small compared to most others I've been involved with. Hang around for a little while & you figure out "what's what". The forum culture here is much different than many others. I'd be hard pressed to think of a member I'd give bad rep points to.
