    Bargain/Classified Notifications

Just a thought on a great feature if it is possible. I'd love to get a notification whenever a NEW thread is added to the Bargain Alerts/Member Classified sections.

I always seem to read them after the deal has already passed.

    Just a pipe-dream?

This may be the first month in YEARS that I don't fully pay off my credit card (more out then in, want to leave savings alone).

Very true - on the other hand, at least three times this year I have found out about a great deal AFTER I paid too much. I don't mind so much if it is at least a week or two later, but when UPS hasn't even picked it up yet...

Besides, I am pretty sure that any day now I will decide that I have all the woodworking toys anyone could ever need and then it won't be a problem, right?

Well, it should be possible. We can subscribe to the Bargain Alerts/Member Classified sections and daily email notifications can be selected. I'm not sure why the 'immediate notification' option is not in the dropdown. It's the same on other VBulletin forums I've checked. Immediate is available for subscriptions to threads.

            Sam, is this do-able?

The trick is, I really don't want to be notified on each and every post within the threads - just when a NEW thread is started.

Not sure if I made that clear in my first post.

Yes, you did. It was me that wasn't paying attention. Sorry.

The RSS feed for those forums would pretty much get you there. You would use the Reader of your choice to consume it.

The RSS is a great idea. I have a Treo, so I could subscribe via my phone, but that is a little hardcore for me...

Actually, after having been subscribed to the forums in question for a little while, that has pretty much met my desires. I can scan the new threads at the top of the e-mail I get. I hadn't realized how handy the subscription function was.
