Are there any options on the advanced search page - such as some forums have like "miter saw" that searches for the phrase or +miter +saw to need to find both miter and saw?

I don't think so, the search on this forum software is not really something to emulate.
If you put the words miter saw into the search box, after the search removes words it doesn't like (most short 1 and 2 letter words or acronyms - I think it now accepts 3-letter words but didn't used to) it will find posts with all the words but its not smart enough to find, say posts with "miter saws" If you don't get any hits or find the parttcular post you want, you have to try shorter combinations of the words you used.

It can help to limit your searches to subjects, to narrow hits down a little bit.
