    Long user names

I'm trying not to sound jerkish, which is difficult to do in this case, [:I] but can there be a limit to the length of user names?

It's probably not much of an issue for those with big monitors, but long user names on a small monitor (e.g., laptop) cause some of the columns to resize to the point where they are one word wide.

It doesn't affect function, just eye-appeal.

    Thanks for listening.

That's been bugging me for a few days now as well, so I second the motion!

            ???

But maybe there's a way to limit the column width, or only display a few characters of the user name? That would save people from having to change their user names.

I know who you are talking about and it bugs me too.

But since Sam apparently has it on his short term agenda to completely revamp this forum software I think its probably not high on his list.

Long names screw up my 19" monitor, too. I'm confident it was an unintended consequence when folks were choosing their UIDs but it is a bit unsettling.

As long as we're in B&M mode, lately it seems like a lot of new-thread posts in Bargain Alerts, aren't. Some have been gloats, some have been questions about specific tools, etc.

                  yeah!
At least we can come in and post after the guy with the long name and take him off the (last post by) column. Don't have to say anything but "good post" or "great idea" or even comment about someone else.

I admit to a bit of relief that I'm not the only one this bothers.
