ImageStation Substitute?

I have used the subject web site to store pictures to put on display here. I recently uploaded a few pictures the other day and I keep getting security errors when I try to post them. Image Station is of no help. They even say it is against their policy to allow users to post images stored on their web anywhere else.

Are there other ways or places to link images????

The best way to link images is to put them in your own space at your ISP (Internet Service provider).

I have EV1.net and they provide me with something like up to 300 MBytes online included with my $10 monthly fee. For most ISPs you need to send them an e-mail or use a page at their web site to set up your FTP site. It's like a disk drive off the web, you have a subdirectory on their drive, you can have more subdirectories in yours.

You can put web pages in your directory. or just files - data, pictures, music, anything. It will have a URL - typically something like http://users.yourISP.net/~username/your directory/picture.jpg.

There are several tools for moving file back and forth between your online storage and your machine. They are called FTP programs. I use a free one wsftp (lite), but you can also use others, you can even use IE to do it.

Your ISP usually has simple instructions for setting it up and sending data back and forth and setting up a web site even. Its all free!


I see you're using your place of employ for e-mail. Took me going to the website before it hit me what the initials gm stood for! Do you have a ISP you use at home?

For those interested, I found a site that is very easy to use for storing/posting pictures: www.hpphoto.com

They actually create the link to the picture for you and allow up to 100MB of space.

yep i use walagata now too for a few weeks..
theyre good but not much storage space..
good for showing stuff in temporary posts

i keep my signature graphic hosted there.
imagestation is great,but not for sharing really. i think storage is limitless.
