    chat in XP

The chat applet won't load in XP and IE 6. I just get a blank square with the red x in it. Any ideas? I just updated the machine last night. Before the update IE was telling me that I needed to update the Java VM. I also checked the security settings, it looks like all is ok there.

    thanks

I haven't chatted from work in the past few weeks, but it used to work fine in Internut Exploder 6 under XP. I'll check again tomorrow.

I use XP and IE6 with no problems. Sounds like a Java VM problem on your end...

Incidentally, Windows XP is the most common OS among my site's visitors as is IE6.

On my version of XP java was not included. I had to go out on the net to get it... microsoft's download page did not work. Used a google search and downloaded the latest v-machine somewhere else. you might try that.

I have XP Home and the automated download kept on having errors. I did the manual download and install and temporarily diabled Norton Anti-Virus. It worked!
