    Forum feature- sub threads

    Sam,

    I'm enjoying the forum.

One of the features of other forum software (not just R***i) is the ability to respond directly to an issue or thought posted in a reply to an original post.

The result is good and bad, one the structure is treelike and easily followed if one is interested in the split topic. Something like bill says what did you get for xmas and jim replies I got a banshee saw and a screaming vac. So Jeff replies how do you like that screaming vac while Jack replies I got a so and so etc in response to the original.

Or to comment on pro/con/add'l info of a specific suggestion posted.
Like Alex says how do you cut long strips
Ralph says use a TS with a rip blade
Tim says use a band saw
smitty want to ask ralph how to push the wood safely...
Joe wants to ask Tim what the tpi is on the band saw blade...

The tree structure is quite visible and easy to follow the sub threads. It keeps related info together. But the con is when viewing the topics its not obvious the sub thread is there. Bad in the equipment example but so-so in the technique comment example.

This software with its linear time listing of replies does not readily allow sub threads. Somewhat of an inhibitor of conversation starters.

Or did I miss this ability somewhere?

I'll look into it. I was thinking the same thing.
