I built myself a shop electrical timer. You can get the timer mechanism designed to mount in a wall switch box.
This one is electronic, push the button and it advances thru the choices of preselected times...5 min, 10 min 15 mi, 20 min, 30 min 1 hr, 2 hr, or 4 hour.
And wired the output to a power socket.
There are uses for this in my shop. It can power the shop air cleaner/air filter; I leave mine running for four hours after I leave to clear the air of fines. (altho I've since graduated mine to a google Home Wifi controller)
I also use if for the wood branding irons, and for hot melt glue guns, wood burning, thermal cord cutters that you use for a short job and don't accidentally want to leave on after you are done. I turn them on for 15 minutes and set a timer for about 12 minutes on my cell phone, when it dings I can do the branding or gluing, and then not worry about having to shut off the branding iron or glue gun.
I got this timer off eBay. It was very cheap.
They also have rotary spring wound mechanical electric timers that fit in electrical switch boxes.
