Will this work for Shop made Air Cleaner?

    http://store.yahoo.com/tylertool/airki95piutb.html

Can I use this to build a air cleaner?
This was in Tyler Tool Company website. Its an AirKing 9550 Pivoting Utility Blower. The CFM rating is about 2100(high) 1700(med) and 1200(Low). The horsepower is 1/16. The price is $50. The price, HP, CFM rating all seems to not add up.

    Any thoughts, suggestions?

I don't see why not. My filter is just a squirrel cage blower/motor in a fancy case. Before you plunk down cold hard cash, you might what to call a few local heating/cooling companys and see if you could help them out by taking an old (but working) blower off their hands.

      here's more detailed specs
      http://www.airkinglimited.com/USPages/9550.asp?id=1

Its not a blower like you'd find on a DC.
For one, its a squirrel cage blower. THey can move lots of air but can't put up any pressure. Note there's no hoses or loads, it just moves air in one end and out the other. A filter may lower the CFMs a fair amount with its restriction.

And it takes 90 watts, with eff. losses, that's probably right for 1/16th HP.

whn you say it doesn't add up, you're probably thinking DC blower specs.

Well I` will have to check it out tomorrow.
But Walmart had a blower like that for around $40.
Made by Stanley, as a shop blower.
Have no idea what the spec are. But it was quiet and moved a lot of air and would be perfect for a shop.
Stay tuned I`ll check it out tomorrow.

Well I checked outthat fan. It would be nice to have in the shop, but I don`t think it has the capacity fo building a filter
