    Dust collection

I am in the process of moving in a couple of months and will be setting up a new shop in my garage so I am mapping out a plan. I want to set up a vacuum system for my tools. Is there a good resource that gives a good outline on how to set it up and how much airflow is needed, how long I can put the pipe runs and not lose flow etc?

Thanks...this forum is an amazing resource for new to the "sport" of woodworking.

Good question, jamin. This may be one of the most frequently discussed topics on the forum. Two of the best ways to get information on it are to review Loring Chien's FAQ at http://www.bt3central.com/forum/topi...TOPIC_ID=12490 and try a search on the forum using the link near the top right corner of the page. You'll find a wide variety of opinions, so take plenty of time to review them and form your own opinions. Also, a comprehensive (but maybe a little over the top) dust collection Web site has been developed by Bill Pentz at http://billpentz.com//woodworking/cyclone/index.cfm .

    Good luck, and welcome!

Penn State Industries www.pennstateind.com sells a lot of DC equipment. They have a little book that gives a lot of information on designing systems that isn't too expensive.
Jethro is right, there is a lot to consider and a lot of differing opinions on this subject!
I lucked out on my system; a buddy of mine used to build cyclone separators for mills so he fixed me up a "doll-house" (as he called it) separator. You can check it out on my webshots site, just click on the link below my name.
