Another piece of "jiggery art" from the master-down-under. Great idea Rod and excellent work.

Rod, what else will you use this jig for? Surely you're not going to all this trouble to drill ONE set of bench dog holes in ONE bench ...? [:0]

Larry - There is also a second bench, and who knows?

          Rod,

As with every other project I've seen of yours, very impressive. Inspirational in fact.

May I ask if you used any plan for the bench and if so where can I find it?

Finally, I think it has been said before, but you really should be publishing your work in one of the top magazines.

          Regards,
          ~ Fred

Fred - Thanks for the kind words.

Sorry - no Bench plans - established the height/depth I wanted (I'm a massive 5'-7", with short arms!), then made it up as I want along. I did make sure I had a vey generous overhang to allow for clamping.

              Rod,

Another outstanding example of shop jiggery and Aries perfectionism!

I am curious though ... Why would one want a benchdog hole right at the edge of the bench?

Dan - Where did you get the Aries thing from - did I give it away a long time ago?

"right at the edge" - I wouldn't, but you better believe some sharp-eyed forum member would have nailed me on it!

AND, as it happens, my first set of holes will be inside the 4-1/2" "minimum".

The "Aries thing" I believe, was divulged in a silly "how old are you?" thread some time back ...

I did surmise that the ZEF was more to allow distances less than 4 1/2", but your "right up to an edge" description had me thinking (I know, I know ... I try not to).

I also assumed that the DC you'll use will be similar to the elegant and easily positioned unit that is used on the DP?

EDIT: PS.. Did the "indexing" comment that Loring put forth bring any ideas?

Dan - Yup - that's the one I'm planning to use.
                    ....... Nope - not yet!
