Shop cleanup, and prep for reworking.

I spent plenty of quality time cleaning up, rearranging, and prepping for clearing out the old Strong Tie workbench. I am working a project to replace it with a deeper, narrower cabinet to allow for full depth on the miter saw, storage for the air compressor, and width to allow the freezer to be moved in...

The two clamshell cabinets. Note how I set up storage on top of the cabinets.

Back to the dust collection corner, The small compressor is back there under the DC. I temporarily stashed my mortiser underneath there as well..

That strong tie workbench under the workshop library is going away. I am waiting for a friend to come by and pick it up. It will see use as an auto repair bench again.

Not much has changed on the clamp rack and safety gear shelf... I do need to clean the filters on the Grizzly air filter.

My workbench is temporarily housing my planer, you'll see why in a few more pics... But the scroll saw doesn't have a place to live... This bench WILL be upgraded, just not right now. For now it's okay, but in the long run, I will change the base to a cabinet / drawer base, and a gluelam SYP 3" thick top.

Another shot of the BT3100. I still need to build the workstation for this rig. I might end up building the top for the BT, and workbench, build the whole thing as a full on workstation since I never move them apart.

My drill press, which will get a full on storage cabinet on the base, portable A/C, and sliding miter saw. That Firestorm stand isn't too bad, but not that great. The box under there is the dust hood for the miter saw, it worked well, but I made it 2" too narrow. I kept it on top of the bench, and it posed a few problems.... This would be perfect for somebody with a 10" slider... Anyone in the Houston area that can use this, PM me, and it's yours. Same goes with the Gray stock Ryobi 8" grinding wheels.

My new compressor. I am probably way more impressed with it than I probably should be... No buyers remorse yet...

Another view of the same compressor. The components on this are nice!

Here is my tool stacker, the space where the planer is supposed to be was taken with my Pecan stock. Unfortunately I have 8' 6" space, and 10' stock... Ooops...

I was tripping over junk, and knee deep in shavings at the lathe. It was time.

It does look a little cramped, but organized. The compressor looks good. How do you like that hose?

Honestly, I prefer the Hitachi hose. The HF hose is a bit too stiff for my taste. As this hose simply goes from compressor to the regulator / filter I am not that worried about it though. I regulate down to the 90PSI working pressure for the hose, take it to the next regulator and regulate down for my spray guns, and then out the Hitachi to the guns. Good results so far, but I might have been better served in the long run with a Goodyear rubber hose instead.

Yeah, that's sketchup. That's the simplified model. The detailed model is WAY too big for the warehouse... Stupid 10 MB limit.

The model can be found at the following link.
