    Ceiling storage options for shop?

My shop is a free-standing hip-style roof shop. After I drywalled the ceiling
and OSBed the walls, the ceiling is probably 10' high. I've got some ladders I
want to ceiling mount. What do you suggest I use to get them out of the
    way?

Bike hooks screwed into the joists would be too high up. Any other options?

    Thanks,
    Paul

Here is what I am well pleased with. 14" by 16".

I purchased mine at Walmart but they also have them at HD. IIRC, they are cheaper at both places than at the Amazon link.

I have 4 sets of those and they hold large items up high and out of the way, and on the side walls near the ceiling, yet easily accessible.

My ceiling is only 7'. But I used hooks that I screwed into the wall right above the door, and one from the ceiling to grab the other side.

What you could do is make a shelf that hold storage boxes you rarely need access to and hang the ladder below that. Use bike or ladder hooks, eye hooks with bungies...whatever meets your needs. This shelf would be great for plastic tool cases, etc.
I have a little blog about my shop

How about a couple of pulleys. If you get fancy with threading them together you can do it with one running line.

This lift is similar to Bob's idea. Price sounds cheap enough.

On the higher side, is a Raycor lift. http://www.amazon.com/Racor-PHL-1R-H...7710341&sr=1-4

I have the same hooks suggested by Bob and linked by CabMan for my bicycle, and it works wonderfully for such a low price. I am always impressed how easy it is to pull it up or down.

You'd need to assess how high you will want to pull your ladder up (maybe to clear the garage door?), but my guess is it should fit your need well.

Oh, I see you may not have the rolling 'garage door', makes it easier.

I orderd the Raycor lift. I ended up returning it. The quality was average and the mounting hardware was sub par. I was surprised at how small it was when assembled. Just some insights.

Duh! I should have thought of the bike lift. I already have one in the shop
for my bike. Didn't click that I could do the same with ladders.

                  Thanks.

I'll be making a trip to HF tonight.

I am about to remove the bike lift from my shop.. I used to use it for my canoe, but it was too hard to work with, and the canoe got stored under a tarp outside. (Take the tarp off, open the gate, walk 30 feet to the Bayou and drop the boat it... How cool is that? ).
