    Plywood gloat

We had a piece of instrumentation delivered to the lab this week from
Finland. Considering the instrument cost $800K, they used some good stuff
to pack it in. And to think I was about to buy some Baltic birch for my new
    router table extension!

The base is a little dinged up but otherwise everything is brand new. There
are some foam blocks glued in spots but they were easy to knock off and I've
still got a lot to work with despite the foam glue residue.

The base is a 3x8 sheet of 3/4" Baltic birch.
The two sides are 4x8 sheets of 1/2" BB.
The top is a 3x8 sheet of 1/2" BB.
The two ends are 3x4 sheets of 1/2" BB.

I already used one of the sides to make an elevated subbase for a robot at
work. Funny thing is, people were more impressed with the sanding job on
that base than the actual construction.

Turns out our satellite lab had one of these installed this week, too
but I found out too late and it all went to the dumpsters!

I worked security for AMD several years ago and scored an occassional shipping crate from Europe.

Mind you, I wish it were me getting that score, but nice save from the landfill regardless. I hate to see good stock like this go to waste.
