    Shop Vac hose question

I currently have a 6 gal 3 hp Shop vac witha 1.25" hose. I want to connect this shop vac to some of my tools using a 2.5" hose. I'm thinking of either simply replacing the 1.25" with the 2.5". I'm not running a long hose, just from the vac to the dust ports. I don't think this will pose a large problem with suction, but I'm just trying to get some input.

If your vac will handle a 2.5" hose, then by all means, you'll get better performance by using one.

yeah most of the shop vacs have the 2.5" port and the hose reduces to 1.25" You get a lot more air movement with 2.5". They have 2.5" hoses for shop vacs at the harware store last time I looked for one years ago, fit perfectly, worked fine with my off brand shop vac..

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

I had the same setup on my shop vac and bought some of the 2 1/2" hose at the borg shortened it up and connected it to my TS. It worked out good - I think I used 2-3 feet of hose.

I now use a DC and think that it does a better job but I was happy at the time using the shop vac.
