    in stopping noise you have to deal with two means of transmission.

    One is the noise coupled through the air.
    The other is the noise coupled through the structure and re-radiated to the outside.

        Have you considered making a gift for your neighbors in your shop? A nice magazine rack or a cutting board, given with the explanation "Here's a little something for putting up with my noise..." might go a long way towards making any further "enhancements" unnecessary...
