    HF DC and Jet Canister

Does anyone know if the Jet 708739 Canister Filter can be fitted on the HF 2hp DC?
Seem like it's the most reasonable priced canister filter right now. $178.09 including shipping from Amazon.com.

I don't have the Jet canister. I have the Grizzly.
They both are 20" diameter and so should be close to a fit. The Griz has a rubber skirt (where have I heard that before?) that hangs over the outside of the ring. You put a strip of weather strip gasket on the outside top of the ring. And tighten the metal buckling strap over the skirt to seal it.

IIRC, the jet comes with a new ring, but it may not be necessary. The Jet canister has a rigid outer skirt and it attaches with a number of knobs with threaded studs to the ring, by clamping pressure. I imagine but don't know for sure that there's a gasket of some sort between the canister and ring.

So I can say for sure the Griz fits easily. But right now its $8 more. Might be worth it for confidence. And not having an extra ring to trip over.

Actually this picture does not show the skirt much at all. It's about 3" tall.
I note they've also changed the rating to 1 micron from 2 it used to be. changed the material or just changed the spec? Who knows.

The paper/poly kit from Wynn Environmental is only $90 for the HF 2hp.

Another link to Wynn, I don't think you have to do any mods to the HF DC if you use this filter. http://www.wynnenv.com/35A_series_cartridge_kit.htm

I tried this a couple of months ago, and the filter is not an exact fit. I can't remember if the filter was too large or small for the HF doughnut. However, the kit comes with a new ring. The only thing you would have to do is rework the mounting holes in the JET doughnut to fit the HF stand-off legs.

OTOH, I decided to not modify the HFDC, and just sell it. I then replaced it with the JET 1100ck.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.

I've got the less-expensive Wynn filter. It works great. It does not have the beater/cleaner thing, though. It installed easily and I have no complaints.

Their web site shows it being installed on the HF DC.

I dont have the ceiling height for the $94 Wynn. I know it's a good filter but it's at least 10" taller than the others.

The spun poly filter from Wynn is shorter and still cheaper than the others. It's also washable! It is said to be a lifetime filter because of that fact. Although my thought is with a little care the others would last a lifetime for a small shop.

That doesn't seem correct to me. I just went out and measured mine. It's 21" from top of the green part on the DC to the top of the filter. Looks pretty much like the others to me.

JR is correct I just checked the Wynn website both of their filters for the HF 2hp DC are 17.5" diameter and 23" tall.
