I don’t think so, but I haven’t needed it. I took my Wynn filter off after having it on for about 6 months. All that was in it was fine dust. I cleaned it out with a leaf blower. I remember a post were someone complained about clogging or something but I haven’t come close to having any kind a problem.

Right - it (the Wynn) should be cleaned fairly often, I think. at the risk of allowing the filter to load up. and be less efficient. Wynn recommends hitting it with compressed air IIRC. No beater included.

The Grizz, Jet, and PSI canisters sold sepcifically for woodworking all have a beater to do the job.

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

        Jeffrey -

I speak with the authority of a novice. My 2HP Grizzly DC is still waiting for me to run a 220V circuit. But anyhow, maybe my inexperience will translate into words that are easy to understand.

Any of the pro DC machines will help. They all can be improved and fine-tuned. Any of them will make a huge improvement.

Most experts advise to also get a DC for fine air born dust (these are essentially a box with fan and filter hung near the ceiling). They can cost as little as $100, and they also can be made quite cheaply. Lots of plans can be found.

I don't believe anyone was so simplistic as to say that Wynn is a filter that replaces the DC baq. It is pretty cool - it looks good and it works well. It also costs quite a bit.

The trash can lids usually don't work (I think) because they don't seal well enough and/or the pickup tube doesn't go deep enough - the suction pulls the particles directly from the intake "tube." There are several good DIY plans on the web. The plan I chose uses a barrel from a car wash, a grooved plywood top, some large PVC pipe, and a plexiglass window so I can watch swirling wood dust (or observe when the barrel is full).

There are 2 excellent books on DC, and there is a web site for Bill Pentz (sp?) that have tons of useful info - if you want to get that involved. It is possible to spend hundreds of hours learning more and more.

There's also a more nuts and bolts approach - This link is Lee's DC System shows one man's solution (Lee Styron, the Shark maker). I was very impressed.

I appreciate your input. I have purchased every thing (HF DC, 1 micron Bag for top, JDS plastic bag for bottom, Delta AP200 air cleaner, Long Ranger control, PSI hose). Everything should be together and installed next week and I will post photos and performance. The top bag I am using is awesome. I will post more about it next week. It looks like a hot air ballon!
