    Dan, I'll try to get some photos tomorrow morning. Don't get home from work until midnight, after a 77 mile drive, so that's about as soon as I could hope to do it!

      just a quick calculation.
      Wood weighs approx 50 lbs/cu ft.
      you have a 4'x8' shelf with 20" of overhead space.
      If you load it just 1/4 full, e.g. 5" deep, then it will weigh about 650 pounds.
      If you load it half full (e.g. 10" deep) then the weight of the wood will be 1300 pounds. If you load it fully then it will weigh over 2600 pounds.

      I didn't even count the weight of the shelf.

        I thought I'd post the improved version of the overhead storage,I added vertical 2x4 supports to help carry the load.
