New mobile base for a new saw...

    Hi Guys,

"cutnshoot" has already asked, and I thought there may be some interest in me posting the thought/building process [?].

Step 1 - Buy the wheels. Because I'm only 5'-7" I prefer a lower working height than most. I know the height I want and I need the wheels to give me the base height. 100KG will rest on 4 x 45KG swivel/locking hard rubber wheels - A$19.80 each.

Step 2 - Design. This is different from the BT base - I need a "hole" immediately under the saw table for dust collection (I think a drawer would be an idea). And of course I want as much drawer space as I can get.

    More later...

    Downunder ... 1" = 25.4mm

Almost $20 each for casters? I don't know how hard it is to order from the states, but Grizzly has a lot of their casters on sale right now.

These are the ones I used on my bench:

That's aussie dollars (see the "A$"). so
      A$20 = USD$15.20
      still expensive, though.

Bob - often the US$ prices will be great - UNTIL - you add the shipping cost to Oz - even sent by camel

I restrict my US purchases to stuff I simply cannot get here, and/or things I can wait 6-8 weeks for. In this case, neither applied.

I kind of figured that was the case, but I thought I'd mention them anyway.

          Waiting for pics, as usual.

I got to ask, where did you get that drill press, when I get rid of my 10" that's what I want. I find myself wiping my chin everytime I look at your "shed" pics.

              Jock - which drill press?

I have 2 - one is a floor standing Radial DP and the other is a "regular" DP, mounted on a stand I made. Both bought in Oz of course.

The orange one, pic NS15[1] on your shed post. I guess this would be the floor standing radial DP. Who makes it?
