Son and DIL just bought a new home and asked me to make them some 8 inch by 11 inch trivets like I made some twenty years ago as family Christmas gifts. It turns out I saved the routing jig I made from back then, so that should make things go easier. I also have maple stock left over from the living room tables I made some time ago. The wrinkle with this time around will be coloring the trivets. The original ones were just finished by soaking in Danish oil and curing. The kids want the new trivets to match their kitchen floor, so I will have to experiment with dye and the oil.

Cool. The trivets are cool for sure, but so is the fact that you saved the jigs for 20 years and even more so that you can find them!!!

The jig has been residing up in the joist space in the shop, it was always visable. Because I spent so much time designing and building the jig, I just had to keep it around. Yes, the jig picture is from the original build, but the two trivets are what ours look like today and they get used daily.Last edited by Jim Frye; Today, 06:23 AM.
