The laundry room remodel placed the big jug of laundry soap up in a cupboard and SWMBO wanted a stand to raise the jug up so the measuring cup could be placed under the dispensing spout without having to pull the jug out of the cupboard. So I cobbled up a design using some pine scraps from the shop. Then I checked the Google for "laundry soap jug stand" and discovered there are quite a few commercially made ones being sold online. Interesting enough, they all looked pretty much like the one I drew up. So the question is do I spend $13-$30 for a commercially made one, or do I spend a dozen hours in the shop making one? So 8 hours spread over five days later, the laundry soap jug stand is done. The finish is three applications of Watco Danish oil and one application of Minwax satin polyurethane wipe on. I was aiming to match the interior finish of the cabinet. If I were to do this over, I would certainly design the construction differently, but I was using some 12"x1" pine shelving scraps left over from a shop shelf build some years ago and was sort of in a hurry.
