Post in the back yard

For about 25 years I've had a 4x4 post erected in the back yard with a couple of wooden arms from which I hung plants, bird houses and bird feeders at various times.

The arms which were two pieces joined in a arc fell apart over time the latest incident being the tree trimmers dropping cut branches on top of them.

I had fun designing the replacement of one piece construction on Visio.

Today's work.
Such a pain in the neck changing bit sizes for every hole drilled!!!
Part cut on bandsaw, part with jigsaw, it just didn't fit the 12" bandsaw right. and cutting curves with the 1/2" blade was not ideal. Did A lot of cleanup on the oscillating spindle sander and with a rasp and file and sandpaper I was hoping to avoid.

Base pieces are cut and drilled, no pics.

Once learned, the next time, it might be good to cut a 1/4" masonite or quality plywood pattern and then rough cut and use a router to finish cut. I am looking at the end. That would be hard to do on a bandsaw with the long arm. To me, that would have to be done with a good jigsaw or pattern following router. The pattern following router would duplicate repeatable.

I admire your work and the difficulty you went through, considering most people will not see that.

I only needed 2 although for a bit I considered making 4.
Making a stack of two with double sided tape made the layout once and cutting drilling once. Four high would have been tough.
So really the work to make a template would have been the same, as these are the templates if i needed more than two.

Its not the most complex project in the world, but
I designed it from scratch and aesthetically and craftsmanship wise it made me feel quite good about myself.
The kind of project I like to do where I can design and make something I picture a need for.

jeez, I hope there were no other typos in the dimensions. Fortunately most of the numbers were with the dimensioning tool so if I drew the part the right size the dimensions came out right. Date was one of the few numbers I typed
