    Ebony plugs

I can't seem to find anyone that sells ebony dowels. So off I go today making own ebony plugs uning a plug cutter. I was surprised how well they turned out.

Hopefully I will be able to show the finished project in a couple of weeks.

Looking forward to it. I made ebony plugs once. I was happy not to get my hand whacked by the spinning block on my drill press even though I used a fence. I made a bunch but your experience sounds a lot better than mine.

Depending on the the off cut, when I have needed a dowel that you just can't find, I have used one of these...

I bought an assortment of violin and larger pegs on ebay. They are slightly tapered, but worked just fine.
