Built a punkin chunkin' catapult Friday nite

My friend was out of town for a month on a business trip and he needed a catapult for his daughters to use for their science class. Picked one off the internet and made it bigger! And had to design a remote release mechanism.

Had to chuck a 2-lb pie pumpkin 30 feet for a passing grade.
We made 39-45 feet on first test runs Saturday! Success!

Yeah so the teacher's instructions said they needed safety glasses for testing and demonstration to get their grade...
I asked when they arrived if they had safety glasses... Yes, they both said.
So when I let them try it I said where's your safety glasses, the said, oh, they're at home... duh. so don't blame me for no glasses in the movie.

I've been itching to make a trebuchet. The minute I've finally gathered up all the parts my neighbor is getting bombed... (he'll appreciate it really)
