my youngest son needed someplace to take meals in his apartment. i threw this together out of one sheet of HD cabinet grade plywood and some maple edging.

I like it! Question - is the rear leg in the pic (or right leg if you're facing it) mounted a few inches closer to the wall than the other leg?

Looks that wway to me, too. Guessing so they will fold up side by side.

Looks great. The curved end on the apron was a good idea to let it fold down and be tight against the wall in the up position.

I think in straight lines, but dream in curves

I thought about that - from the pic it looked like the length of the table was more than the combined length of the legs (+ a little for the folding), but I wasn't sure.

thanks for the comments. pappy nailed it. the table was 54" long, so the legs had to be staggered so they wouldn't interfere with each other when folded up. i used these as hinges:

Very nice work. I am a bit shocked though. Every apartment I have rented had a no permanent changes policy. Meaning nothing could be nailed, screwed, bolted, or bonded to the apartment itself... How did you get away with mounting that to the wall?

the table hinges off a 2x3 which is fixed to the wall with 4 screws. landlord approved the installation as long as the 4 holes are repaired when the apartment is vacated.
