    K-body multilevel clamp rack

Ive been working on cleaning up the garage and thought of this to maximize use of wall space. Had some old 1/2 ply laying around and went at it with PowerPoint for a template and my thin kerf blade to cut the slots.

Probably ran the saw for 5-10 minutes straight and it got pretty hot. Sure hope I didn't damage it.

Anyway, will finish this tomorrow and see whether 1/2 ply is strong enough or if I have to double up like in the picture.

BTW, I bought those Woodriver clamps when the sold the sets for $99. Big mistake, in the end I had to buy the Bessey's because the Woodriver clamps are anything but parallel. They have tremendous force though.

I did something similar a few years back. Look at this post for details and more pictures

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

      Very nice!

Makes me think 1/2 ply is way to thin, lol. Your drill press gave me a great idea though too. I'll drill a hole for each slot and then only need two cuts to. It out the slot with my 3/32 dado blade.

I drilled a hole for the end of each slot, then used a bandsaw to make two cuts per slot.
THe middle one I had to use the table saw with the std thin kerf blade raised up because my 12" bandsaw was to small to reach the middle (about 13") slot.

if you looked at the linked thread all the measurements are there,

Poobah, the link in your post doesn't resolve for me. I'd like to see your solution.

I did some high density racks into my stud space too. I used 1/2 MDF and built a quick box joint type jig and cut them on my tablesaw. The MDF had warped a little, but the clamps stay in place because I added some self adhesive foam insulation strips to the fingers. You can see them here: http://www.bt3central.com/showthread...991#post463991

I've added a bunch more Bessy's since those shots. I sure did wish that I had some revos when I made those racks. I would have spaced the fingers out a bit more. The Revos won't fit in my rack's lower levels since they are wider then my others.
