    Reclaimed chestnut

    I have found some chestnut from a torn down barn He is asking $ 2.00bd ft. I think this is a good price. Can anyone confirm pricing ?

    At that price he is all but giving it away. American Chestnut is all but non existent.

        Ahh Man, I coulda had some Japanese Chestnut and even could of brought some back with me, I but didn't think a thing about it.

        I wonder if the two are close in value, color and grain?

          I have a bunch of chestnut. Amazing lumber with all kinds of interesting figure in it. I'd be happy to take it if you don't want it except shipping would be a killer.

            Cost and availability
            You can purchase solid (from American and European trees) and wormy chestnut (from American trees) as lumber in up to 3" thickness. However, you'll find it primarily on the East Coast, and in limited quantities. At about $10 per board foot, you'll also pay dearly. More readily available than chestnut lumber, veneer sells for about $4 per square foot.

              I thought it was to good to be true. The sales guy misquoted it. Price is actuall $ 6 ft. Still, not a bad price. It came from a barn about 80 years old. Think I will get some of it.
